As a somewhat typical woman from the Midwest, I’d like to say I’m a fairly open-minded person. I think it helps me to be a better business leader. All that being said, I do have some strong opinions about certain things in life that I just can’t compromise on. I believe that this also helps me as a business leader.
A recent example was when my husband proposed a somewhat rugged camping trip for the family this summer. The thought of sleeping on the ground in the wild with a couple of small children is something I just can’t embrace.
Sorry Chris, not happening.
Of course, I do think an open mind and strong opinions can coincide. That is why I’m proposing that he go sleep in the woods while the kids and I find a nice local hotel for a staycation.
See? Strong beliefs don’t mean you have a closed mind!
I’ve always found that when I open myself to new ways of thinking that I’ve benefitted greatly from the process. There is much to be gained from embracing new ideas in both life and business.
